At Second Sunrise Rescue we understand that sometimes circumstances make it where an owner can no longer keep their horse.
​There are not many options for horse owners and a lot of owners are afraid that they will not be able to ensure their horse finds the right home.

This is where we can help!

​Due to an overwhelming number of animals in need of rescue services in our community, we are adjusting our intake policies frequently to best meet changing needs.
​
Horses must must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission.

  • Equine is under 26 years old 
  • Horses and Ponies must be at least light riding sound.
  • Equine does not have a long term health condition that will shorten his or her life or render them only pasture sound.
  • We do accept non-riding Mini Horses, Donkeys, Mini Donkeys, and Mini Mules
  • We do not accept stallions or Non Gelded Stud Colts over the age of 1 years old.

Step #1 - Submit An Equine Donation Request

Owners must submit an Equine Donation Request online by clicking the link below or by mail or fax.
Questions are asked concerning your equine, its health, riding experience, and quirks.
Please be as honest as possible with your answers as this ensures we can find a perfect home for your equine.

Please Note: The application form is easiest to complete on a desktop computer or laptop.

Step #2 - Gain Approval and Arrange Delivery Appointment

Once you have filled out the Equine Donation Request Form you will be notified via e-mail with any follow up questions. 
From there we will arrange a delivery appointment.

You will be required to sign our Equine Donation Agreement which is a legally binding document that certifies the information you have told us about the equine(s) is true.

​This document will officially relinquish the Equine into our care and is to be signed by the owner and a Second Sunrise Rescue Director upon delivery. 

Keep Our Surrender Fees Free!
Your support is what keeps our surrender fees free.
​Without support from people like you we would have to charge surrender fees for horses coming into our shelter, which could prevent horses from being surrendered.
